Help us provide life-saving counselling by taking part in the 5k May Challenge in support of Burning Nights CRPS
Battling a rare disease like Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) has always been a lonely affair but being cooped up at home for months on end without the usual visits from friends and family has hit many sufferers hard. Since the coronavirus pandemic took hold, Burning Nights CRPS Support has seen a 38% increase in calls and emails from CRPS sufferers thinking about taking their own lives. With a major mental health crisis in the CRPS community now on our hands, we have launched a counselling service to give patients a chance to work through their problems with a professional. We’re providing the sessions free of charge to patients, many of whom struggle to make ends meet because chronic pain means they cannot work. But counselling comes at a hefty cost to us and demand is far outstripping our current ability to provide and pay for this crucial service.
That’s why we’re asking you to join the ‘5K May’ fundraising challenge next month. The idea? Run, roll, swim or skate 5 kilometres, donate £5 to Burning Nights CRPS Support here and then nominate 5 friends to join in. By helping us to raise £3,600, you’ll enable us to pay for an extra counsellor for a whole year and, in so doing, help many more desperate CRPS patients, some of whom are currently suffering in silence. Every pound you raise will nudge us closer to our target so put your skates, wheels or running shoes on and get out there to make a real difference!
