Volunteering – Support Us

Volunteering with Burning Nights CRPS Support can be a rewarding experience for you as well as showing your support for us. Supporting the work that Burning Nights CRPS Support does by volunteering your time and skills can be beneficial to everyone.

Counsellors

We’re looking for qualified counsellors for our newly created CRPS counselling service, who are registered with one of the recognised organisations such as the BACP. We will consider counsellors who may not currently be registered or registered as a student with the understanding you must be registered before the start of the role.

Social Media – All Channels

Do you have the skills to help us with our social media? We’re looking for volunteers to help with the different social media channels we are on

The Role

  • Managing our social media accounts
  • Creating new posts to be posted
  • Creating content that is interesting engaging
  • Replying to comments on posts
  • Replying to private messages

Desirable Skills:

  • An enthusiasm for Burning Nights CRPS Support’s work and helping others get involved
  • Ability to volunteer within the Burning Nights CRPS Support’s guidelines & values
  • Ability to be part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Good creativity skills

Time Commitment: minimum 2 hours per week, ideally 2-4 hours per week

Online Live Chat

Could you help as a volunteer and communicate with people in need of information and support via online message? 

About The Role

  • Two to four hours per week volunteering remotely at any time during our online love chat hours
  • No obligatory or fixed commitment
  • You don’t need to have worked in Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) before, all you need is a secure internet connection and somewhere private to work

About The Role

  • Informing and signposting people about CRPS, health issues and other relevant services
  • Offering support to attend one of our support groups or other activity for the first time
  • Offering general support to people who need it
  • Promoting our publications or services
  • Signposting people to up to date information about services
  • Referring any in-depth support needs to our Support Helpline or another team member

Essential Skills

  • Empathetic listening and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adopt an objective view rather than a personal one
  • Able to keep people’s personal information private and safe
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email
  • An enthusiasm for Burning Nights CRPS Support’s work and helping others get involved
  • Ability to volunteer within the Burning Nights CRPS Support’s guidelines & values
  • Ability to be part of a team

Support Volunteer

Our Support (Email) Volunteers use their listening and interpersonal skills to offer support for people affected by Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).

Befriender

Do you want to be a friend to other CRPS patients? We’re looking for volunteer befrienders who will be able to call or Zoom chat with other CRPS patients once a week for 30 minutes?

About The Role

  • Having a 30 minute friendly chat once a week to another CRPS patient
  • Informing and signposting people about CRPS, health issues and other relevant services
  • Offer a listening ear
  • Referring any in-depth support needs to our Support Helpline, CRPS Counselling or Online Live Chat
