NEW CRPS STUDIES & TRIALS
> Grunenthal Phase III CRPS Clinical Trial – St. Pancras Clinical Research was trialing Neridronate infusions for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). However this trial has now ceased. If you wish to learn more about CRPS trials from St Pancras Clinical Research whether you are a CRPS patient having being diagnosed under or over 2 years, please visit St. Pancras Clinical Research.
> CRPS RESEARCH STUDY FOR TREATMENT – This Study is open after 31st March 2015 for sufferers of CRPS/RSD Type I and who are based in the USA. The doctors will be comparing and learning about a trial drug aimed specifically for CRPS/RSD called Neridronic Acid. They will compare 2 different doses of Neridronic Acid with placebo in various Type I sufferers around the USA. You can contact the Study group and see if there is a doctor in your area who is taking part in this study -> STUDY CRPS NOW 2015 Available from: <http://www.studycrpsnow.com/>
“LIPS is a multicentre (United Kingdom), double-blind, randomised parallel group, placebo-controlled trial, designed to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) 0.5 g/kg plus standard treatment, versus matched placebo plus standard treatment in 108 patients with longstanding complex regional pain syndrome.”
“A study published by researchers at the University’s Institute of Translational Medicine, in Annals of Internal Medicine, has shown a potential treatment for patients with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is ineffective.”
> UPDATE on T-121 drug currently being developed by Thar Pharmaceuticals in Pittsburg, USA. The FDA have given Thar approval for a Phase 3 clinical trials for their drug for CRPS; T-121 which is the oral form of Novartis’ intravenous-only zoledronic acid, which is sold under the brand name Zometra. > MYCOPHENOLATE TREATMENT for LONGSTANDING COMPLEX REGIONAL PAIN SYNDROME (MYPS I) – NOW CLOSED (As of 11 January 2015) – This is a UK study funded by the Pain Relief Foundation and sponsored by Aintree University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Chief Investigator; Dr Andreas Goebel is looking at a drug called Mycophenolate that has only just started being used for pain as it traditionally is used for other health conditions. He believes that as it already treats the immune system and it is known that CRPS is involved in the immune system that the drug could help longstanding CRPS sufferers. When results are out they will be included on this page.
