Leave A Gift In Your Will
Leave a gift in your Will to Burning Nights CRPS Support and inspire a legacy of hope for those affected by Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).
No-one wants to think about death but we all want to know that our wishes will be fully carried out and we can do this by making a Will.
Making a Will isn’t as complicated as you may think and very often your local law firm can help. A Will provides you with peace of mind and will ensure that your property and possessions go where you want them to go. We can’t avoid death – but making a Will can let you manage some of its effects.
Why leave a legacy?
Most people don’t know what Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is and one of Burning Nights CRPS Support’s missions is to increase awareness of CRPS. Our vision is that the world knows and understands what CRPS is. We know anyone can be affected by CRPS and with your help we want to give everyone the best tools to educate themselves about CRPS and manage their condition allowing people to live their lives to the full. The gifts you leave in your Will allow us to support and share our support and knowledge with more people across the UK.
Legacies to charities are currently exempt from Inheritance Tax and, with 80p in every £1 donated going directly to our vital work, you can be sure that your donation will be used wisely.
Types of Legacy
There are three (3) different types of legacy you may want to leave:
- Residuary legacy – A percentage of the value of your estate once all other payments have been made ie payment of debts, administration expenses and distribution of any specific gifts. This is a particularly effective way to remember a charity because it is expressed as a percentage and retains its value over time.
- Pecuniary legacy – This is a gift of a fixed amount of money. If you have family or other people who you want to receive the bulk of your estate, you may prefer to leave us a pecuniary legacy. However, you should be aware that the effects of inflation will mean that the real value of the legacy could become less than you intended, unless you review your Will regularly. Such gifts can be expressed to be ‘index linked’ so the sum gift holds its value in line with inflation.
- Specific legacy – A gift of specific items – personal possessions, art work, property or specified investments such as shares or the contents of a bank account.
Many supporters choose to leave a share of their estate (a residuary gift) for the simple reason that it keeps pace with inflation and enables you to ensure that your family and friends are cared for. After you have thought about those closest to you, would you consider leaving just 1% of your estate to Burning Nights CRPS Support?
